This vintage men’s ring is crafted of beautiful gold, with an outstanding polish and sleek design. The center is set with a synthetic ruby that has been carved in the cameo style with the image of a Roman soldier. In the past, transportation was far more expensive than it is now. Rubies had to be brought from Burma, Emeralds from South America. This cost translated into the price of the stones, making them far too expensive for the average consumer. In response, jewelers found interesting ways to make natural stones go a little farther. Synthetics were created: stones faceted from crystals grown in laboratories. These remained popular right through the Art Deco era and into the Mid-1900’s.
