In the vintage and estate industry, these synthetic corundum (synthetic sapphire) gemstones from this period are almost always referred to as synthetic alexandrite even though they are chemically synthetic corundum. The chemical properties of this stone are synthetic corundum but the trade name is synthetic alexandrite.
