Crafted in the late 1800s, this antique cameo pendant features delicate milgrain and beadwork, bloomed gold, and styling that is the hallmark of the Etruscan Revival style. The ruddy red and white stone cameo is hand-carved, depicting a portrait of a Roman soldier in traditional garb.
Etruscan revival is a resurgence of a jewelry style, originated by the Etruscan society in Italy from 700 B.C. to 300 B.C. The style of jewelry was revived in the Victorian era when ancient ruins were uncovered and were at the height of popularity in the 1860s and 1870s.
